Hatsune Miku is the 16 year old female with blue-green twin tails, mascot of the virtual singer software of the same name developed by Crypton Future Media.
The Hatsune Miku software was first released on August 31st, 2007. Shortly after the release of the software, fans and users started producing a massive amount of media featuring the character, and the popularity of these creations led to merchandise, live shows, and other projects.
